Specialized Loan Servicing - Payed off HELOC - they took the payoff but did not release lein
I had a HELOC with Bank of America. In March 2013 they transferred it without notification to SLS. I decided to refi my mortgage, and pay off the HELOC prior to avoid problems with subordination.
It took nearly a month to get a payoff letter from SLS. I sent my payment and they received it 10 June. Then sent me a letter saying I owed them $1.40 - one dollar and forty cents. They could not explain why they wanted this amount, and after two more weeks agreed to waive it. Then said they sent the mortgage release to the county office on 21 June. Then said they sent it 1 July. Then sent a copy to the title agency on 8 July.
I can't say if SLS is the least competent firm in existence, but they certainly are terrible. Careless, callous, useless. I would never do business with them, but in this case it wasn't by choice - BofA sold my loan to them.
Monetary Loss: $6300.
Location: Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Stay away from SLS You will be very sorry if you do any business with them. They are very unprofessional and rude.
Watch out....................they are as unprofessional and unable to handle MAYBE just your payment. Try to get your loan from them and to a reputable bank.
This company is ONLY a servicing company, thwy will say to work with you and at the end they will foreclose.
Find out out who your investor is and go direct to them. Bunch of IDIOTS all of them!!!!
